April 2014 - New funding, new homes
Dwell's application to the government's Social Housing Unit for pre-qualification for future funding was successful in July 2013. This enabled us to apply for funding to buy homes in the Riverside Gardens redevelopment in the Lower Hutt suburb of Pomare.
We are thrilled that we got funding to buy quality newly built homes in this redevelopment. Some of the homes will be for affordable rental and some will be sold to low or moderate income households under our new shared home ownership programme.
These homes are part of the 145 + new houses to be constructed and refurbished in a master planned community on land owned by HNZC. This includes a range of housing options including state, social, affordable and market rate rental, and home ownership opportunities are planned. Dwell plays a key role in this mix.
Our thanks to City Living Ltd – in particular Peter Savage and Earl Hope-Pearson from The Property Group - for their support and enabling Dwell to have the opportunity to work in this much needed redevelopment.
We will be launching our shared homeownership programme in May. You can read about it on the shared homeownership page but look out more details and pass the word onto any first home buyers you know.
