January 2017 - The coming year for Dwell
The start of the year is always a good time to lift your attention away from the detail and day to day and to analyse what’s been achieved and what’s coming up. We want to give you a taste of what’s going to be happening this coming year at Dwell.
Our priority will be focusing on the completion and development of several key projects which fits with our strategic goal of More Homes. We are working to finish raising the finance we need to complete the redevelopment of our Kilbirnie site. We are incredibly excited about the housing scheme that has been designed and are looking forward to the start of construction.
We will complete the transfer of the ownership of five housing units from the Wadestown Ark Trust to Dwell. We are looking forward to telling this story soon.
Great Services is another strategic goal and our focus in this area will see us complete our asset management strategy. This important work will ensure that all our properties continue to provide warm, quality and safe homes for the people who live in them. It’s also a key piece of work to help us plan our future growth.
This year we hope to increase our human resources to enable our team to do even more and will be exploring ways to do this. We are also looking forward to continuing to build on the positive relationships we have with many external partners and supporters. We need support in many different ways so we always encourage people to follow our work on Facebook and our website in case there’s something you can do to help us help people in need.
The lack of affordable housing is a critical issue for NZ and, as 2017 is election year, we will make sure we have a Strong Voice in the forthcoming debates on housing. As well as central government we will be working with Wellington’s new mayor and council to tackle local housing need and increasing homelessness in the capital.
This year presents many opportunities to increase our capacity so we can help even more Wellingtonians access affordable, quality housing they need. Check in with us when you can.
