November 2015 - Dwell is delighted to be part of extended partnership research

Dwell is delighted to be extending the work with the Porirua Social Sector Trial and He Kainga Oranga (Healthy Housing Programme), Department of Public Health at the University of Otago, who are working together to identify the needs of youth in relation to the delivery of health and social services in Porirua.

The aim of the project is to identify the needs and gaps of health and social services delivery for youth in Porirua with a view to developing proposals to address the issues arising. This study so far has investigated the perspectives of approximately 80 to 100 children and young people, their access to health and social services and what would help them to experience wellness, fun and safety in Porirua city. This research has been valuable, and funding has now been provided to extend this research to include up to an additional 150 people, who are parents and stakeholders.

The image below is a city map of Porirua with over 400 images, drawn by the youth involved in the study who were asked to draw and describe their ‘vision for their city’.
